On January 1st, 2016 Oscar-winning cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond – who was considered one of the 10 most influential cinematographers in movie history – passed away at the age of 85. Vilmos won an Oscar for his work as Director of Photography on Steven Spielberg’s “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” and was nominated for his work in “The Deer Hunter”, “The River” and “The Black Dahlia”.
Zsigmond had an illustrious career in Hollywood, which spanned fifty years and a long list of impressive achievements on many influential and memorable movies, including “The Rose”, “The Witches of Eastwick”, “Blow Out”, “Heaven’s Gate”, “Sliver”, “The Bonfire of the Vanities”, and many more.
Identika had the honor – and the privilege – to develop the E-Commerce website for Vilmos’ first movie ever made in the United States (although not the first one released), the black & white, 1965 seminal film “Summer Children“, which has been fully restored on DVD. You can read more about the E-Commerce website we did for Summer Childrent here and if you want to checkout the DVD of this movie, and see where it all started for Vilmos, you can get it on Amazon.
Rest in Peace Vilmos.
